The Most Amazing Hide-and-Seek Alphabet Book

It's really called that, and it's actually a pretty fair name. It's an early birthday present from Grandma Robin, and the animals come out from behind the letters when you pull the tabs or lift the flaps, and we've read it approximately 25 times today.

Zack has been saying "eyes" this week, and he really likes the owl because it's eyes open and shut.

Lunch

At the cafe where Sarah is working. Zack played with the hinge on the table and ate Cheerios, and also had some of the avocado, beet, and chicken from my salad. He has turned into a pretty good little eater.

He liked these Easter eggs and pinwheels on the walk home.

New rug

It comes in squares, which haven't been connected together yet. It's wool, and very soft and cushy, good for rolling around on.

Reading

And munching on shirt. The family book remains one of his favorites.

There are spinners in the dishwasher

Zack has recently discovered the big water spinner under the top drawer of the dishwasher, and today I guess he noticed that there was a similar one under the bottom drawer. So (without my help) he removed the bottom drawer so he could get to the bottom water spinner. He also found the spinning soap dispenser.

Drinking from cups

Zack likes to drink from cups, but of course he can't drink from open cups by himself without drenching himself. We haven't had much luck getting him to drink from sippy cups---he can't seem to master the step where you tip the cup up. So we tried this cup with a built in straw, and he loves it. He can drink from it very effectively, and he can also blow into it, which he thinks is super fun. He's a fan of bubbles.

Zack stacked the cups!

First time ever! He's been nesting them for months, but this time he stacked 5 of them while sitting all by himself on the rug. He is also getting very good at manipulating the stuff on the cube.

Today

Zack made friends with this waitress today. She had a hard time serving other tables, because every time she walked by, Zack waved at her like crazy, so finally she just picked him up and held him.
In other news, Zack really started to consciously try to copy vocal sounds we made for him today, and this new consciousness of vocalism seemed to carry over to reading his books---he was making the fish mouth at the page with the fishes every time he saw it, whether we made fish mouths or not.

Zoo!

Today we went to the zoo in Central Park with Rebecca and Elliot. It was crowded and Zack had a hard time finding many of the animals in the main zoo, but he liked the sea lions, and he liked the section with the farm animals, where we could feed and pet the animals. We spent a long time with the goats, and we patted a sheep.
