"Riding horse"

We've walked by this horse every day for months and Zack seemed to notice it today for the first time. He asked to stop as we walked by in the stroller, and he wanted to sit on it for about ten minutes even though we didn't have quarters and couldn't make it go. He made lots of horse noises and a few donkey noises, too. I was okay to stop for a while because it's beautiful here today---almost 60, up from 15 last week---and it's nice to be outside.

Party

Zack had so much fun at Gigi's birthday party yesterday. He said, "Gigi turn two, Zack turn one," with fingers to illustrate. He's familiar with the idea of a birthday party because four of his classmates have had them in the last few weeks. He played and played with Gigi and her other friends, and loved the balloons and the hats. He wasn't particularly excited about the cupcakes, and fed his to his parents. He dreamed last night about party hats, and talked in his sleep about, "Mom-mom in a party hat." (I never actually wore one.) There are better photos coming from the new Nikon, but here are a couple for now.

Knobs in tracks puzzle

This puzzle has been the hit of the last 24 hours. Zack has named the key locations on the track, and he has strong opinions about which colors of knobs should be moved where. He can't always figure out how to get them there himself, so this is a game that requires a certain amount of adult support. Here he is maneuvering the reds from the "M" to the "circle."
