Legos

Zack is very into them at the moment. Yesterday he built this advanced project set, with some help. It is a cherrypicker.

Walking and talking

This baby is now bipedal more than half the time. He is unsteady and falls a lot, but he almost always starts out to get somewhere by walking, and he can and has walked the length of the apartment from room to room.

He also has many words for a baby his age. They include:
Dad
Zack (Za!)
Hot
Hat
No (nuh-nuh-nuh)
Out
Elevator (ay-vay)
Ball
Bath (ba)
Want (wan-wan-wan)

I am sure there are more, but those are the ones I can think of right now.

Snow day

Ash touched it and played for a minute but was generally unimpressed.

Zack was much more excited about it.

Hip deep in a snow drift:

Snow angels:

Footprints:

Ash doesn't like the cold wind but is interested in Zack's antics. Zack and his dad spent an hour at the park later and had tons of fun.

Snow

After picture. This was not the blizzard of the century or anything like that. There is maybe almost a foot of snow, certainly not the 3 feet they predicted. We haven't been out in it yet, but we will go out and play as soon as the wind dies down and ash has napped.

Snowstorm

Ash and I went to the grocery store to pick up supplies in case we are snowed in for a bit. This was Ash's first experience with falling snow. He spent the whole time actively trying to eat it. He gulped it with wind and tried to catch it on his tongue.

"Hat!"

A very expensive hat.

Walking

Ash defaults to walking now. He usually falls after a few steps but he is steadier every day.

Legos

Zack made this entire train engine from the instructions without even one tiny bit of help.

Snow

We went out in it yesterday in new snow pants from Grandma Robin!

Magnetic wooden blocks

Thank you Grandma Jan and Grandpa Jim! They are a big hit with both kids.

Flight back to NY last week

Another smooth flight. Sitting in the front of the plane is much more comfortable. Ash is sampling the pre-flight beverage service, and Zack is peeking into the cockpit. Ash slept most of the flight lying down in the seat, and Zack played on the ipad.

Trains

One of these trains has a battery-powered engine, which has been a huge hit. There is a track for Zack on the table, and one for Ash on the floor. Ash does drive the trains on the track, but he also loves pulling tracks apart and chewing on the connectors.

"Hat!"

When Ash is full, he squishes his food into his hair and says "Hat!" Here he has a squished carrot hat.

Eating

Ash is really eating now. He has about 3 meals a day that might include chopped fruit and steamed vegetables, bread, oatmeal, noodles, tofu, hummus, or almost anything we happen to be eating. He had a few bites of saag paneer yesterday and seemed to like it. He also downs about two of these packets a day, feeding them to himself. He takes it very seriously.
