Best way to see Zack's teeth

In the swing! I got a good look at the top one too, but couldn't get a photo. But there is definitely only one.

Refrigerator!

Alex let Zack unpack the refrigerator at 5:30 in the morning while I was still asleep. I don't usually let him play in there because it wastes energy. But he loves it almost as much as the dishwasher.

Going down for a nap

The jaw thrust forward here is because he's teething.

Nesting cups 2.0

Nesting cups with snowman pieces. This was Zack's idea, not mine. He got frustrated when he couldn't get the cups to nest how he wanted with the snowman pieces inside.

Stairs

Zack remembered these from when Sarah was here---when he saw them he got all excited and flapped and flapped and insisted on climbing them again. They're reclaimed wood, and he likes the holes in the beams.

Let's see about that spigot!

As you can see, it's downright balmy here right now.

Baby food packets

Zack continues to be ambivalent about solid food---but not, apparently about the packaging---this morning, when we passed the baby food packet display in a store we don't usually shop in, he laughed and kicked and flapped and reached. Hopefully that means that we've managed to make eating fun, if not delicious. I think this strawberry apple mix is, actually, delicious, but Zack doesn't agree. He wouldn't take any last night, and only a couple bites just now.

Toys

Here's a fun article about toys:

And this was my list of Zack's current favorite toys---for anyone who follows Zack's blog, this list will be old news, I wrote it for facebook:

1. His parents, especially the inside of his dad's mouth, but also his mom's belly button, which for some reason makes him laugh and laugh.

2. The cat, though this is mostly a one-sided game of tag.

3. The dishwasher, and assorted included kitchen implements, but especially the dishwasher drawer itself---also the inside of the refrigerator, but that is pretty much off limits, so I don't think it counts.

4. Assorted iDevices, including iPhones, MacBooks, and the iMac (this is where his list gets a lot more expensive than the Wired list) and the silicon iPhone cover, which is the standard consolation prize, and, for Zack, still an integral component of the iPhone.

5. The Aeron desk chair, and all the furniture, really, but especially the Aeron chair because it articulates in so many ways.

6. Metal fixtures and implements of all kinds, hinges, screw heads, door knobs, elevator buttons, zippers, and, of course, keys!

7. Books---he actually really enjoys being read to, will sit through a dozen books, and reads to himself for extended periods of 3 minutes and more.

8. Paper recycling, and cardboard boxes, but especially paper, good for destroying---so far he rips up magazines on sight but hasn't ripped a book yet---I don't know how he knows the difference. I guess it helps that most of his books are board books.

9. A $2 set of stacking plastic cups: in and out and in and out and in and out, etc.

10. Mirrors---these were a lot more interesting a couple months ago, but they are still great favorites---CDs are fun in part because they are mirrored on one side.

Found a stacker at the gym

Actually it's a 3D tic tac toe game, but for our purposes, it's a nice wooden stacker.

CD

This CD is fascinating on many levels: it has a mirror on one side and bright colors on the other, it has a very interesting hole in the middle, and it turns over and over so nicely. It was good for more than 15 minutes' focused attention. It is also playing in the background (the wonders of modern technology.)

The first few seconds are representative of the whole minute and a half of video.

Teeth

I just realized that one of Zack's top teeth had broken through, because I could hear him grinding them (!) So now I can feel three teeth, two on the bottom and one on the top, though I still can't see any. And I better understand the faces he's been making with his jaw thrust forward, and the copious amounts of drool we've had these last couple days.

Dishwasher

Zack gets so excited about the dishwasher that he practically hyperventilates. I have to time my opening of it so that either he doesn't see or he can play in it for a while. Otherwise he cries and cries and there isn't much I can do to distract him.
